Initial data
In the early hours of Christmas morning, the first sighting occurred near Gosford, Australia. According to former air traffic controller Lindsay Carter, it was a quiet morning as he headed north from Sydney.
Looking out of his windshield, Carter saw a silvery metal object in the sky about half a mile away. The object moved from south to north. Another eyewitness to the object was housewife June O'Hara, who saw the UFO moving over the water. The object was surrounded by lights.
According to Sergeant Sergeant, by New Year's Eve, the local authorities received numerous calls with reports of UFOs. All the callers reported a huge globular object with bright lights below. Witnesses watched as the UFO sucked water from the lake.
Other witnesses claimed to have watched the unknown object move over the water for 15 minutes. They stated that they had never seen anything like what they had seen that day.
Witness Margaret Howe observed the same object. She reported that lights are coming out of the water, and the object is moving over the water. She could hear the sound of rushing water as she was sucked in by the mysterious ship. After a moment or two, the UFO returned the object to the lake.
The incident was reported by the Weekly Sun newspaper. This article prompted many to call the newspaper and claim that they, too, had seen a UFO. The group of callers represented a wide range of citizens; lawyers, police officers, teachers, etc.
Some witnesses described several rays of light radiating from the bottom of the ship to the water, with the surface of the water being severely disturbed. Other callers reported that they were awakened by a loud sound, and their Pets were acting strangely.
UFO researcher Moira McGee launched an investigation using eyewitness reports and calls to any and all possible launch sites of planes, helicopters or any aircraft. These investigations did not provide any evidence of the UFO's origin. The appearance of a UFO moving over the waters near Gosford in 1994 has never been explained.
