Agobard, Archbishop of Lyon "... wrote that in 840 he saw a crowd in Lyon killing 3 men and one woman accused of getting off an airship that arrived from the aerial country of Magonia.
The decrees of Kings Pepin the Short, Charlemagne, and Louis I the Good mention punishments against those who travel by airships. Agobard... (tried) to free three men and a woman accused by the mob of being agents of Grimoaldo, Duke of Benevento and arrived to destroy the harvest. In the manuscript of Agobard, kept in the National Library, it is mentioned. that the astronauts captured in Lyon were, apparently, foreigners, and that "these unfortunate people were accused of witchcraft." The mob killed them and the bodies were thrown into the river."
Original news
Hypotheses
Deliberate falsification
This version includes any falsifications that imitate unexplained phenomena both from the outside: practical jokes, flash mobs, fake news, witness fraud, staging, etc.
There are many ways to make something similar to a ghost or a flying saucer from improvised materials, without using video and photomontage.
Many homemade things made for the sake of a joke, a practical joke or a direct imitation of a mystical being or event can be taken as unexplained not only in photos and videos, but also in reality.
Investigation
The mentioned book "Drake, W. Raymond Gods and Spacemen in the middle ages" could not be found.
*Magonia is a legendary city of medieval folklore . This name was given to the kingdom of clouds, from which the criminal air sailors are said to have come, according to generally accepted beliefs condemned in a controversial 815 treatise by the Carolingian Bishop Agobard Lyon, where he speaks out against climate magic. The treatise is called De Grandine et Tonitruis ("On Hail and Thunder").
We also managed to find this treatise and this fragment in it (see the original text).
