TV Show|1993
The exploits of FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully who investigate X-Files: marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. The x-files (season 4)

TV Show Season|1996

"Tunguska" (English "Tunguska") and "Terma" (English "Terma") – the eighth and ninth episodes of the fourth season of the TV series "The X-Files", united by a common plot. The episodes reveal the so-called "mythology" of the series, and their plot is an indirect continuation of the fifteenth and sixteenth episodes of the third season.

The X-Files (3.15)

TV Show Episode|1996

A French salvage ship searching for a lost WWII fighter plane unknowingly surfaces an alien which appears in the form of black oil and has the ability to jump hosts. Mulder heads to Hong Kong to investigate the salvage broker who sold the information to the French and he encounters Krycek, who has been selling information from the MJ documents.

The title of the ninth episode refers to the Buddhist word "Terma", meaning "secret treasures containing important Tantric texts and various items related to the ritual practice of Vajrayana", in a narrow sense-a collection of secret teachings. The initial motto of the series is changed from "The truth is out there" to " E pur si muove!", which means"And yet it turns!" in Italian. This phrase was allegedly uttered by the scientist Galileo Galilei after he was forced to recant before the inquisition from his belief that the Earth revolves around the Sun, and not vice versa.

Plot of Episode 8

Mulder goes to Russia, to the Krasnoyarsk Territory, to the site of the fall of the Tunguska meteorite. There, he wants to find the origins of the appearance on Earth of an alien organism under the conditional name "black oil", or, as it is called by" Russian "researchers and the military,"black cancer".

Together with Alex Krajicek, they end up in a prison-like camp where innocent people are held. In this camp, scientists are working on a vaccine against "black oil", and prisoners are used as experimental subjects.

At the same time, Scully appears before members of the Senate, who demand an explanation from her about the mysterious disappearance of Agent Mulder.

Plot of Episode 9

In Boca Raton, an old woman voluntarily subjects herself to clandestine euthanasia. To the horror of her granddaughter and the doctor, "black oil"begins to crawl out of the eyes and nose of the deceased.

In St. Petersburg, Vasily Peskov, a long-retired KGB officer, receives a message from a certain comrade Arnzen in Krasnoyarsk.

In a prison cell, Mulder, who barely wakes up after the experiments, learns that Krajicek is a double agent working for people who are experimenting with"black oil". Using a homemade knife given to him by a Russian geologist in a nearby cell, Mulder attacks the camp commander while walking and escapes by stealing a truck and shoving Krajicek into the back. Krajicek, having woken up after being hit by Mulder, jumps out of the car at high speed. The truck's brakes fail, and the car goes downhill. Mulder manages to hide from his pursuers in the woods.

Vasily Peskov arrives in the United States and, faking an accident, kills the doctor of the Consortium-Bonita Karen-Seyer, who conducted experiments with "black oil". Scully is being questioned in the Senate. She refuses to answer questions related to Mulder's whereabouts, after which she is taken into custody.

Krajicek is found in the woods by a group of young men, each with an amputated left arm. Krajicek pretends to be an American, wrongly accused of espionage. To save him from the experiments, the men cut off Krajicek's left arm at night. Mulder is found by the driver of the stolen truck and brought to his home. Mulder convinces him and his wife to go with him to St. Petersburg, where he can help them. Vasily Peskov sneaks into the NASA laboratory and eliminates the doctor infected with "black oil".

Returning to the United States, Mulder interrupts the Senate session with his appearance. Together with Scully, they interrogate Krycek's accomplice, who was caught in New York, and find out that "Arnzen" is Krycek's pseudonym.

Mulder and Scully arrive at a nursing home in Florida, but Peskov is minutes ahead of them, liquidates Dr. Karen-Sayer's patients, and escapes from under the noses of the agents. Peskov's trail leads to Canada, but agents fail to catch him: Peskov destroys a rock containing "black oil" by blowing it up in an oil well. Returning home, Peskov meets Krajicek at his home, who hired him for these tasks

Phenomena in artwork: The Alien

An alien organism is found at the site of the fall of the Tunguska meteorite. It is an oily liquid of black or dark brown color. An alien organism can enter a person's body and cause a state similar to catatonic stupor (a person freezes in one position and even practically does not breathe), attaching itself to the pineal body of his brain.

There is a medical way to get rid of an alien parasite. After the injection, the creature almost instantly leaves the human body and dies. The same thing happens in the case of the death of a human carrier.

Probably, the black liquid is related to the alien parasite shown in 15-16 episodes of the third season of the series. However, its effect on humans is significantly different: the alien organism does not capture the host's mind, does not control its behavior, and does not give it the ability to emit radiation. The only effect of the introduction of the parasite is a near-coma state of the host.
