A resident of the city . California (USA) noticed an "alien beetle" in his own home. The man posted the corresponding photo on the Reddit forum.

According to a user with the nickname Royal_Buyer_8178, at first he thought it was a termite, although the animal turned out to be too large and scary for this insect. The man noticed that the find resembled either a spider, an ant, or a scorpion and looked like an alien creature.

As other users said, the Californian discovered an arachnid from the solpug family, also called solar spiders. They are harmless and can sometimes approach a person, but not with the purpose of biting, but just to relax in his shade from the sun.

According to users, a huge number of these animals live in the Mojave Desert, which occupies a significant part of Southern California.

Solpugs are distinguished from spiders by the absence of venom. However, they hunt beetles, termites and other insects. There are varieties that even lizards and scorpions become victims of. Despite the absence of venomous glands, the bite of these arthropods can provoke severe pain and inflammation, since rotting food often remains on their oral appendages.
