Mi observación ocurrió en el otoño de 1971 en Florencia, Carolina del sur. Una noche, al anochecer, salí al patio trasero y, tan pronto como salí, noté algo oscuro sobre mi cabeza. ¡Levanté la vista y lo vi de cerca y en persona! El objeto más grande que he visto en el cielo en toda mi vida. Un gran barco triangular negro volaba directamente sobre su cabeza.
Lo primero que noté sobre él fue el Tamaño y lo bajo que es. Tenía que ser de aproximadamente 300 pies (91,4 m) de ancho desde la punta a la punta y aproximadamente la mitad de esa distancia desde la punta delantera a la parte posterior. Estaba completamente tranquilo y no escuché ningún sonido. ¡Fue genial!
También se movía muy lentamente, y recordé que pensé que se movía demasiado lento para permanecer en el aire con su Tamaño. En la parte inferior había luces de diferentes colores: amarillo, azul, naranja, rojo.
No recuerdo el orden de los colores, pero estaban tenuemente iluminados y espaciados uniformemente de un extremo del ala al otro.
Era de aproximadamente 500 pies (152,4 m) de altura y aproximadamente 2,5 pies (0,7 m) de ancho en el brazo extendido. No vi señales ni otras luces que no sean luces de colores en la parte inferior. No he visto ninguna evidencia Visual del motor o el escape del motor. Como dije antes, era completamente silencioso. Lo observé hasta que desapareció (hacia el este) de la vista.
Tan pronto como desapareció de mi vista, los aviones de combate 4 volaron gritando, moviéndose en el mismo camino que el OVNI. Cerca hay una base de la fuerza aérea (Shaw AFB ) a unas 40 millas de distancia, y supongo que vinieron de allí.
Nunca escuché nada en las noticias sobre la observación de Ovnis ni lo informé a la fuerza aérea porque mis padres dijeron que los vecinos no se reirían de nosotros por informar Ovnis.
Vi este objeto y sé que era un vehículo, no una nube, un gas de pantano o el planeta Venus. En ese momento, estaba confundido porque nunca había oído hablar de un OVNI de forma triangular, pensé que todos los Ovnis tenían forma de platillo o cigarro.
Desde entonces, he oído hablar de Ovnis triangulares negros en los años 90, y el que vi en Arizona en 1997 se parece mucho a lo que vi.

My sighting occurred in the fall of 1971 in Florence, SC. Around dusk one evening I went out to the backyard and as soon as I went out I noticed something dark overhead. I looked up and saw it up close and personal! The largest object I had ever seen in the sky in my entire life. A large, black triangular craft was passing directly overhead. The first thing that I noticed about it was the size and how low it was. It had to be about 300 ft across from tip to tip and about half that distance from front tip to the rear. It was perfectly silent and I couldn’t hear any sound at all coming from it. It was awesome! It was also moving very slowly and I remembered thinking that it moved too slow to remain air born for its size. There were lights on the bottom of various colors – yellow, blue, orange, red. I don’t remember the order of the colors but they were dimly lit and were evenly spaced from one wing tip to the other. It was approximately 500 feet high and the width of it would be about 2.5 feet at arms length. I saw no markings of any kind or any other lights other than the colored lights on the bottom. I saw no visual evidence of an engine or any engine exhaust. As I stated earlier it was completely silent. I watched it until it traveled (east) out of sight. Just as it got out of my sight 4 fighter jets came screaming over going in the same path as the UFO. There is an Air Force base (Shaw AFB) about 40 miles away and I assume they came from there. I never heard anything on the news about a UFO sighting and I didn’t report it to the Air Force because my parents said we weren’t going to be laughed at by the neighbors for reporting a UFO. I did see this object and I know it was a vehicle and not a cloud or swamp gas or the planet Venus. I was confused at the time because I had never heard of triangular shaped UFOs, I thought all UFOs were saucer or cigar shaped. Since then I have heard of the black triangular UFOs in the 90s, and the one seen in Arizona in 1997 seems very similar to what I saw.
