La maestra de 37 años regresaba a casa después del trabajo. Hacía frío y lluvioso, y ella llegó a la parada de autobús a las 20:45.
Ella esperó el autobús durante unos minutos cuando un "auto" oscuro se detuvo frente a ella y el hombre en el auto le preguntó a dónde iba. Cuando ella respondió que viajaría unos 20 km en dirección a Turku, el conductor se ofreció a llevarla a una parada de autobús en su ciudad natal. Ella aceptó y entró.
Inmediatamente notó que había surgido algún tipo de campo magnético o eléctrico transparente entre ella y el conductor.
