El piloto de Piper Arrow PA-28 estaba volando a 3.500 pies cuando notó una extraña luz que se acercaba desde el noreste a las 9 en punto.
Después de 3-5 minutos, el objeto se acercó y tomó una posición fija en el ala izquierda de Piper. El objeto tenía una forma ovalada y era de color amarillo muy brillante en el centro con un borde de color naranja fuego difuso. Su diámetro era de unos 3,5 grados de arco.
De repente, el "Piper" realizó dos giros rápidos de 360° en el sentido de las agujas del reloj, de los cuales el piloto tuvo que recuperarse manualmente.
Se encontró cayendo unos 500 pies durante una maniobra de volteo y recuperación. La próxima vez que revisó su tablero, descubrió que su brújula magnética giraba en el sentido de las agujas del reloj tan rápido que no podía Leer el número en su ventana cuadrada.
Mirando hacia afuera nuevamente, vio que el OVNI todavía estaba detrás de él, lo que sugiere que también había perdido la misma altura. El piloto regresó a su Altitud de crucero y llamó por Radio a la sala de control en el aeropuerto de Hannover, al este de su ubicación.
El controlador de tráfico aéreo le dijo que el radar mostraba tanto su avión como otro objeto cercano. El despachador dijo que se enviaría un avión para investigar.
Poco más de cuatro minutos después, dos aviones F-4 Phantom de la fuerza aérea de los Estados Unidos llegaron a ambos lados, moviéndose entre 400 y 500 mph. El Jet en el lado derecho era un poco más bajo, más cerca y delante del Jet en el lado izquierdo.
El piloto estaba seguro de que eran aviones estadounidenses. Una vez que llegaron los aviones, el OVNI aceleró hacia adelante y luego hacia arriba en un ángulo de aproximadamente 30° sobre el horizonte y giró a la derecha, volando frente a su avión. Rápidamente superó a sus perseguidores y desapareció de la vista en segundos.
La brújula finalmente volvió a la normalidad después de que el OVNI voló. El piloto fue interrogado por los "militares"después del aterrizaje.

Summary: The pilot of a Piper Arrow PA-28 was flying at 3,500 feet when he noticed a strange light approaching from the NE at his 9 o’clock. After 3-5 minutes, the object came closer and took a fixed position off the Piper’s left wing. The object was oval-shaped and very bright yellow in its center with an indistinct flame-orange boundary. Its diameter subtented about 3.5 degrees of arc. Suddenly the Piper went into two rapid 360° clockwise rolls from which the pilot had to recover manually. He discovered that he had dropped about 500 feet during the roll and recovery maneuver. When he next checked his instrument panel, he discovered that his magnetic compass was spinning in clockwise direction so fast that he couldn’t read the number in its square window. Looking outside again, he saw that the UFO was still behind him, suggesting that he had too had lost the same amount of altitude. The pilot climbed back to his cruise altitude and called on the radio to Flight control at Hannover airport to the east of his position.The air traffic controller told him that the radar showed both his airplane and another object nearby him. The controller said that an aircraft would be sent to investigate. Little more than four minutes later, two USAF F-4 Phantom jets arrived on either side of him travelling brtween 400 and 500 mph. The jet on the right side was slightly lower, closer, and ahead of the jet on the left. The pilot was certain that they were American planes. Just as the jets arrived, the UFO accelerated forward and then upward at about a 30° angle above the horizontal and turned right, passing in front of his aircraft. It quickly outdistanced its pursuers and was out of sight in a matter of seconds. The compass eventually returned to normal operation after the UFO departed.
