Dos amigos y escaladores aficionados descansaban en una base turística ubicada en el claro de azau, en las montañas del Cáucaso, cuando decidieron dar un paseo por Elbrus, sin decirle al resto de la fiesta. A través de un puente colgante, llegaron a la estación Mir a 3.500 metros sobre el nivel del mar. La distancia a la cima del Elbrus era de 2 kilómetros. Pero los hombres decidieron no subir a la cima y decidieron ir a otro destino llamado "Refugio Once", donde estaban sus amigos de Leningrado.
Pero solo uno de los hombres llegó al "Refugio once" con el pelo en la cabeza gris, aparentemente por el shock. Contó una historia aterradora e increíble de cómo su amigo desapareció ante sus ojos.
Llegaron al área a unos 300 metros debajo del "Refugio 11" cuando vieron varias extrañas figuras humanoides de pie junto a un objeto similar y extraño en forma de barril que los hombres confundieron con la cabina de un escalador. Su amigo caminó más lento y se quedó atrás, y cuando se volvió para llamar a su amigo, vio una vista increíble que hizo que su cabello se blanqueara de shock.
Su amigo de repente comenzó a doblarse y estirarse como si estuviera hecho de goma, volviéndose muy delgado y tirando rápidamente hacia arriba. En una fracción de segundo, todo desapareció, incluidas extrañas figuras humanoides y un objeto en forma de barril. El escalador corrió al lugar para ayudar a su amigo, pero descubrió que su hacha de escalada estaba atrapada en la espesa nieve.
Las huellas de su amigo perdido eran visibles en la nieve y de repente se detuvieron a mitad de camino.

Summary: Two friends and amateur alpinists were resting at a tourist base located in the Azau Glade in the Caucasian Mountains, when they decided to take a walk on Mount Elbrus, without telling the rest of the people in the party. They used the hanging rope bridge and reached the “Mir” station at an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level. The distance left to the summit of Elbrus was 2 kilometers. But the men had decided not to climb to the top and had opted in going to another destination point called “Shelter Eleven” where friends from Leningrad were present. But only one of the men reached “Shelter Eleven” with the hairs on his head turned ashen gray apparently from shock. He told a harrowing and unbelievable story on how his friend had vanished before his eyes. They had reached an area at about 300 meters below “Shelter Eleven” when they saw several strange humanoid figures standing near a similarly strange barrel-shaped object that the men took for an alpinist’s cabin. His friend was walking slower and was lagging behind and when he turned around to call his friend he saw an amazing sight, which caused his hair to turn white from shock. His friend suddenly began to curve and stretch as if made out of rubber, becoming extremely thin and swiftly stretching upwards. In a fraction of a second everything vanished, including the strange humanoid figures and the barrel-shaped object. The alpinist rushed to the location to help his friend only to find his climbing axe stuck into the dense snow. Footprints from his lost friend were visible on the snow and suddenly stop in mid stride.
