Bob W. estaba sacando su basura y apilando dos bolsas de plástico negro en un contenedor detrás de su casa en el sur de Londres.
Con el rabillo del ojo, notó que algo se movía detrás de una pila de macetas desechadas y se escabullía en su cobertizo. Pensando que era una rata, llamó a su Cruz border Collie, pero ella se negó a entrar en el cobertizo, quejándose y gruñendo inusualmente. Cuando Bob fue a explorar el lugar, el perro se tambaleó bruscamente, como si fuera una advertencia.
Entró en el cobertizo, el perro lo siguió, sosteniendo su cola entre sus piernas y todavía gimiendo. Nada se movía en la frescura oscura del cobertizo. Encogiéndose de hombros, se volvió para cerrar la puerta cuando algo volvió a moverse.
Al darse la vuelta, vio los vagos contornos de lo que parecía ser "un niño pequeño con una cabeza grande, sin ropa". Parpadeó y el" niño "extendió" una mano larga y huesuda, con cuatro dedos y sin un pulgar", como si anunciara su habilidad alienígena.
El perro comenzó a aullar, y Bob se liberó de un estado de semi-trance en el que parecía caer.
Muy asustado, intentó cerrar la puerta del granero para que la criatura no pudiera salir, pero surgió un "Club de humo o vapor" y un "olor desagradable a huevos viejos" y la criatura simplemente se disolvió en el aire.
El dueño y el perro que entraron corriendo a la casa se enfermaron gravemente y al día siguiente los dos enfermaron. El perro ya no iba al cobertizo.

Bob W was taking out his garbage and was placing the two black plastic bags in the bin at the back of his south London home. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed something move behind a pile of discarded plant pots, sneaking into his shed. Thinking it must be a rat, he called to his Border collie cross, but she refused to enter the shed, uncharacteristically whining and growling. When Bob went to investigate himself the dog barked sharply, as if in warning. He entered the shed, the dog following, tail between her legs and still whining. Nothing moved inside the dark coolness of the shed. Shrugging, he turned to shut the door when something moved again. Turning, he saw the vague outline of what appeared to be “a small child with a big head, with no clothes on.” He blinked, and the “child” held up one “long bony hand, with four fingers and no thumb” as if to announce its alien credentials. The dog started to howl and Bob snapped out of the semi trance like state into which he appeared to have fallen. Very scared, he tried to slam the shed door to prevent the creature from getting out, but there was a “puff of smoke or vapor” and a “bad smell of old eggs” and the creature simply disappeared into thin air. Rushing into the house both master and dog were violently sick and the next day both them were still suffering from nausea. The dog never went to the shed again.
