Datos iniciales
Noticias originales
August 25, 2000: Late evening sighting. Time: 10:25 p.m. Location: Sudbury, Ontario, overlooking Lake Ramsey. Weather: Warm and clear. My buddy and I were taking a long walk along Lake Ramsey, watching a freight train as it rumbled by until it disappeared around the bend in the distance. As I looked toward the direction of the train, I noticed a red light which seemed to be at the water's edge. As we walked a few more yards, we watched in amazement as the red light suddenly zipped across Ramsey Lake, from west to east, more or less parallel to us. Within 5 seconds, it had disappeared behind another shoreline to our left. It seemed to travel at level flight with a speed comparable to that of a jet fighter. The light never flickered, remaining bright red, with an estimated size of a basketball or a beach ball at that distance. We waited and watched the lake for a few more minutes, but there was no wake or ripples on the water. Lights from surrounding camps and homes reflected in the lake on all sides, placing the object approximately in the middle of the lake. I estimated its height above the water between 5 and 10 feet, but I couldn't see any reflection from it on the surface of the water. We were at a higher vantage point, looking down at it at about a 20 degree angle or less. I have since gone back there in daytime, took a few pictures of the area, which does look different than at night time. But I am still positive we saw something highly unusual. The following daytime images show the movement of the red sphere as it was seen, that evening.
