Descripción:
Algún tipo de cúmulo a la deriva a una altura de 2-3, 000 pies. La Duración del objetivo es de uno a dos minutos.
El testigo observó en el cielo un brillo brillante de color rojo ladrillo, 2-3 veces más grande que Venus. El testigo pensó al principio que era un avión con luces de aterrizaje, pero el color era diferente y no había rayos.
La luz estaba estacionaria, tenía una fuente puntual definida y no mostraba luces de navegación como la de un avión. El testigo usó binoculares pequeños y luego binoculares para observar la luz. Posteriormente, cloud oscureció temporalmente la luz 2-3 veces antes de finalmente oscurecer completamente la luz. La luz mantuvo la misma intensidad durante 2 minutos de observación. No hubo sonido / ruido asociado con el objetivo.

El testigo es un piloto privado con 52 años de experiencia en vuelo. También es un astrónomo aficionado interesado en la física. El testigo nunca había visto tanta luz en el cielo en todos sus años de experiencia de vuelo. Discutió esta observación con un astrónomo que había trabajado anteriormente en el Observatorio Carter, que tampoco tenía una explicación para esta luz.

Some drifting cumulus cloud at 2-3000 feet. Duration of sighting one to two minutes.
The witness observed a brilliant brick-red coloured light in the sky, 2-3 times the size of Venus. The witness at first thought it was an aircraft with landing lights, but the colour was different and there was no beam.
The light was stationary, had a definite point source, and displayed no navigation lights, as an aircraft would. The witness used a small pair of opera glasses, then binoculars, to observe the light. Cloud subsequently obscured the light temporarily 2-3 times, before finally obscuring the light altogether. The light maintained the same intensity throughout the 2 minutes of the sighting. There was no sound/noise associated with the sighting.
Ufocus NZ comment: The witness is a private pilot with 52 years flying experience. He is also an amateur astronomer, with an interest in physics. The witness had never before observed a light in the sky like this one in all his years of flying experience. He discussed the sighting with an astronomer, formerly of Carter Observatory, who also had no explanation for the light.
