La Duración total del seguimiento es de aproximadamente 8 minutos. Noche estrellada muy clara, buena visibilidad. La testigo vive en un pequeño pueblo de provincias donde hay poca luz reflejada en el cielo.

Un testigo estaba afuera por la noche cuando notó dos "gotas" de luz naranja en el cielo del Norte sobre las crestas de Ruahin. "Se movieron en el cielo, bailando uno hacia el otro y alejándose el uno del otro, moviéndose hacia arriba y hacia abajo durante todo el período".
Un objeto más alto de vez en cuando se acercaba a otro, pero no lo tocaba. A veces, la luz inferior se desvaneció brevemente y reapareció después de un par de segundos. El testigo describió las luces como más grandes que las estrellas y con una vista translúcida a su alrededor.
Al principio, el testigo pensó que sus ojos estaban acostumbrados a la luz oscura del exterior, por lo que miró en diferentes direcciones para asegurarse de lo que estaba viendo y se alejó de la luz de la casa. Observó las luces durante seis minutos tratando de descubrir qué era y luego entró.
Después de unos 30 minutos, escuchó los ladridos de su perro y salió a descubrir la causa. Notó que las luces todavía se movían en el mismo patrón desordenado y en el mismo lugar, y las observó durante otros 2 minutos.
El testigo primero se preguntó si las luces podrían haber sido creadas por dos láseres, pero no tuvo en cuenta este pensamiento dado el campo en el que vive y el hecho de que las luces estaban en lo alto del cielo y muy lejos en distancias lejanas.

A witness was outside in the evening when he noticed two “blobs” of orange light in the northern sky above the Ruahine Ranges. They were “darting about in the sky, dancing toward and away from each other and moving up and down over the entire period.”
The higher object of the two appeared to move towards the other from time to time, but without touching it. At times, the lower light would briefly disappear and reappear a couple of seconds later. The witness described the lights as larger than stars, and with a translucent look about them.
The witness thought at first that his eyes were adjusting to the dark light outside, so he looked away and back to be sure of what he was seeing, and moved away from the house lights. He watched the lights for six minutes, wondering what they were, and then went inside.
Approx 30 minutes later, he heard his dog barking and went outside to investigate the cause. He noticed the lights were still moving in the same erratic pattern and in the same location, and watched them for a further 2 minutes.
The witness at first wondered if the lights could have been created by two lasers, but discounted this thought, given the rural area he lives in and the fact the lights were high in the sky, and distant over remote ranges.
