En un Rancho aislado en el noreste de Utah, un ladrido de perros alertó a un grupo de investigadores sobre algo que acechaba en un árbol cerca de la casa del Rancho. Tom Gorman agarró un rifle de caza y condujo a un árbol en su camión. Dos empleados de NIDS viajaban en otro automóvil.
En las ramas de los árboles, podían distinguir los enormes ojos amarillentos del reptil. Sugirieron que la cabeza de esta "bestia" debería tener tres pies de ancho.
Había algo más debajo del árbol. Gorman lo describió como enorme y peludo, con patas delanteras musculosas y una cabeza de perro. Gorman disparó a ambas figuras desde una distancia de 40 yardas (36 m). La criatura en la tierra parecía haber desaparecido.
La criatura en el árbol aparentemente cayó al Suelo porque Gorman lo escuchó cuando aterrizó pesadamente en las manchas de nieve de abajo. Los tres hombres corrieron a través de pastos y arbustos, persiguiendo lo que creían que era un animal herido, pero nunca encontraron al animal ni vieron sangre. El sabueso profesional no encontró nada.
En la parte inferior del árbol, encontraron y fotografiaron una extraña huella, o más bien una huella de garra. El rastro en la nieve era de algo grande. Tenía tres dedos con garras afiladas en el extremo.
Después de analizar, lo que es increíble, la huella se parecía mucho a la de Velociraptor, un dinosaurio extinto que se hizo famoso en las películas de Jurassic Park.

Summary: At an isolated ranch in Northeastern Utah barking dogs alerted a team of investigators to something lurking in a tree near the ranch house. Tom Gorman grabbed a hunting rifle and took off in his truck toward the tree. Two NIDS staffers followed in another vehicle. Up in the tree branches, they could make out a huge set of yellowish, reptilian eyes. The head of this “animal” had to be three feet wide, they guessed. At the bottom of the tree there was something else. Gorman described it as huge and hairy, with massively muscled front legs and a dog-like head. Gorman who is a crack shot, fired at both figures from a distance of 40 yards. The creature on the ground seemed to vanish. The thing in the tree apparently fell to the ground because Gorman heard it as it landed heavily in the patches of snow below. All three men ran through the pasture and scrub brush, chasing what they thought was a wounded animal, but they never found the animal and saw no blood either. A professional tracker failed to locate anything. At the bottom of the tree, they found and photographed a weird footprint, or rather, a claw print. The print left in the snow was from something large. It had three digits with what they guessed were sharp claws on the end. After analysis, and incredibly, the print closely resembled that of a velociraptor, an extinct dinosaur made famous in the Jurassic Park films.
