There is a small island off the coast of the Raven River, completely covered with small gray-green pebbles, which are called "mermaid tears" here. This name is connected with a touching legend about a mermaid who fell in love with a young monk and visited him in a monastery.
According to legend, the monk taught the mermaid prayers, and together they begged God for her soul… But she could not leave the sea and eventually sailed away from the island forever, bitterly mourning her fate. The legend dates back to 1781 and is unique in a certain sense against the general background of "mermaid folklore". After all, it talks about love, and the vast majority of tales about the inhabitants of the river depths unequivocally tells just the opposite.
