Initial data
Watcher te frost, a policeman from the village Sorochyne Miory district, Vitebsk region in June 1955, observed ball lightning:
"It was a hot day, floating. Hours in the 14 - 15th day I was passing on horseback through the village Sorochyne. I was caught in a thunderstorm and downpour.
I tied the horse in the yard of Mr. Stefanovich and entered the house. The house was occupied by the landlady and her young daughter. Above the roof on poles with a height of about twelve metres was strung antenna. On the window was a crystal radio set with headphones.
On the frame of the window was a primitive switch lightning protection: one album - "earth", the second "antenna" in the middle rocker key.
Suddenly a bright lightning flashed, a loud clap of thunder, and after two or three seconds between the crests of the plates with the lightning crackling and hissing started to grow a ball of fire. The room began to spread a strange odor, a sharp, pinching in the nose, slightly reminiscent of the smell of hydrogen sulfide, but more enjoyable.
We were spellbound looking at the growing ball of bluish-yellow color, bright as a light bulb 100-150 watts. Its surface seemed opaque, and around the halo with a thickness up to one centimeter with a bluish glow. Reaching the size in diameter of 12-15 inches, the ball stopped growing, and then with a hiss began to shrink in size and disappeared.
We watched it for 5-6 seconds. Going to the window, I saw the switch. He was put on reception, i.e. on the "antenna". The gap between the two plates was approximately three millimeters".

Hypotheses
Ball lightning
A rare natural phenomenon, a unified physical theory of the origin and course of which has not been presented to date.
There are about 200 theories explaining the phenomenon, but none of them has received absolute recognition in the academic environment. Since this phenomenon was introduced into the scientific sphere by the English physician and researcher of electrical engineering William Snow Harris in 1843, and a scientist of the French Academy Francois Arago in 1855, many hypotheses were put forward. Here are selectively some of them:
