The skeleton of an unknown animal was discovered in eastern Turkey. A chupacabra?
An intact skeleton of an animal about 1 meter tall with predatory teeth was found in the yard of an old factory in the eastern Turkish province of Igdir.
A Turkish university will conduct research to find out the type of animal whose skeleton was found by workers during the excavation of the yard of one of the enterprises in eastern Turkey.
Last week, workers digging the yard of an old spinning mill in the eastern province of Igdir found an intact skeleton of an animal about 1 meter (3.3 feet) tall with predatory teeth. Noticing that some skeletal tissues had not decayed, the workers reported this to scientists from the Center for Application and Research of Biodiversity of Igdir University. Scientists who arrived at the excavation site took the skeleton to the university for research.
Belkis Muka Yigit, a lecturer at Igdyr University, told the Anadolu agency that after the study they would try to find out the type of animal.
"Then we will make sure that this skeleton is preserved in the museum," Yigit added.
Yusuf Kitai, who is responsible for the excavation, said that the workers found the skeleton of the animal when they were working in an area that had not been used for the last 30-40 years.
The shape of the skeleton attracted the workers' attention and they reported the situation to the authorities, Kitai said.
"Research will be conducted, we are also interested. I hope something interesting and useful for science will turn out," he added.
