A creepy "black-eyed child" who seems to live in a picturesque Staffordshire forest has reappeared to scare two young lovers during quarantine.
Lee Brickley, a recognized expert on mysterious ghostly phenomena in Cannock Chase, told the Daily Star that the last sighting occurred on June 19 last year.
In the midst of restrictions due to the coronavirus, when many people stayed at home for weeks, two teenagers, Kylie Drakeford and Ben Tilly*, decided to leave their families and camp overnight in the Birch Valley forest.
But as they huddled together to keep warm that rainy night, they heard something moving around their tent. At first they thought it might be a deer or another wild animal, but after a while the couple decided to unbutton the flap of their tent and see what was going on.
To their surprise, they heard something that sounded like a young girl giggling, so they went out of the tent into the darkness to see if anyone was lost.
They were then taught that they came face to face with a Black-eyed kid from Cannock Chase.
Lee interviewed Kylie for his new book:
"I was terrified," she said. "I read stories on the news about a black-eyed child, but it was only when this thing was right in front of me that I could quite believe them.
I immediately realized that we were dealing with a real creature, because it moved in a way that people simply cannot move. It was as if he could teleport from one place to another when he moved and hid behind the trees."
"I shone the flashlight right at her," Ben added, "and she just stood there and looked at us with her head slightly lowered. That's when the giggling started getting louder and louder. It really sounded like it was coming from everywhere around us, although I could see that she was right in front of us..."
After a while, the mysterious guest ran away. The couple was familiar with previous stories about the Black-Eyed Child and knew that it was better not to give chase.
Instead, they stayed in their tent until morning, when they cautiously came out of their tent, they found a lot of all sorts of "sculptures" made of branches and what seemed to be crude wooden ornaments hanging from nearby trees.

In the midst of coronavirus restrictions, with many people stuck indoors for weeks on end, two teenagers, Kylie Drakeford and Ben Tilly*, decided to get away from their families and camp for a night in woodland at Birches Valley.
But as they huddled together for warmth on that rainy night they heard something pacing around their tent. At first they thought it might be a deer or other wild animal but after a while, the pair decided to unzip the flap of their tent and see what was going on.
To their surprise they heard what sounded like a young girl giggling, so they stepped out of the tent into the darkness to see if someone was lost.
It was then taught they came face to face with The Black-eyed Child of Cannock Chase.
Lee interviewed Kylie for his new book: “I was absolutely terrified,” she said. “I’d read the stories in the news about the black-eyed child, but it wasn’t until the thing stood right in front of me that I could quite believe them.
“I knew instantly that we were dealing with the real thing because it moved in ways humans simply can’t move. It was like it could teleport from one place to another when it was moving around and hiding behind the trees”.
“I was shining my torch right at her,” Ben added, “and she just stood there staring at us with her head slightly dipped.
“That’s when the giggling started to get louder and louder. It really sounded like it was coming from all around us even though I could see she was right in front of us…”
A short while later, the mysterious visitor ran off. The pair were familiar with previous tales of the Black-eyed Child and knew better than to give chase.
Instead, they stayed in their tent until morning, when they gingerly emerged from their tent to discover a number of all “sculptures” of twigs and what appeared to be crude wooden ornaments hanging from the nearby trees.
