Initial data
A man who lives near Fairchance, Pennsylvania, had a close encounter with a yeti on May 22, 2023 at about 23:00. He was alerted by the noise of cattle, and he went outside with a rifle to check on them.
He expected to see a coyote, but instead saw a hairy humanoid creature about eight feet tall in a muddy area next to cows. He screamed at the creature that ran away from him.
A witness who wished to remain anonymous told researcher Jim Brown what he saw:
"He was huge, bigger than any man I've ever seen. He had long dark hair all over his body except for his face. He had a flat nose and a wide mouth. He looked at me with his dark eyes, and I felt a chill down my spine. It was unlike anything I've ever seen before."
The creature was in the mud, approaching the cows. The man shouted loudly at the creature, which in response began to run away from this place. The witness then fired one shot over his head. The witness told Jim that he wasn't trying to hit him, he just wanted to scare him away.
The man also told Jim:
"I'm not sure where the creature went, it just disappeared." All cattle are accounted for. It was pretty dark where the creature was standing.
The witness said that the creature was covered with long dark hair, and that it had exceptionally long arms that extended low on both sides, at least to the knees. When the man shouted at the creature, it raised its left arm above its head. It was also the hand between him and the creature.
The man also shone a flashlight beam on the creature, which was about a hundred feet away from him. His eyes shone red only when he pointed the flashlight at them. There were no extraneous sounds and smells. The cattle seemed to calm down as soon as the creature left the area.
This incident is another example of ongoing bigfoot activity in southwestern Pennsylvania, especially along Chestnut Ridge, which stretches across portions of Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties.
Researcher Stan Gordon, who has been documenting bigfoot sightings in Pennsylvania since 1969, said some of the strangest and best-documented bigfoot incidents have occurred in Fayette County.
He said that reports of yeti sightings have been coming in from all over Pennsylvania for years, and that they are regularly reported from all over Keystone State every year.

The man also shined his flashlight beam on the creature that was about one hundred feet away from him. The eyes shined red only when he aimed his flashlight at them. There were no unusual sounds or odors. The cattle seemed to settle down once the creature left the area.
