Early Saturday morning, January 12, Stephenie Groudons of Lebanon (new Hampshire, USA) went out before dawn and to his surprise saw over the snowy landscape rise bright heavenly lights. The auroras? No, they have nothing to do with it.

"Subzero temperatures and partially open the river formed these light poles shortly before sunrise. It was a great start to the day," said Graudins.

Light pillars resemble the Aurora, but, unlike the latter, caused by ice crystals in the air that catch the artificial light and spread it into a colorful column. Their colors come from the basic types of lamps. Sodium high-pressure lamps create a warm orange hues and modern led — blue and white. It is a phenomenon that solar activity is not required. The only ingredients are ice and light pollution.
