Weekend wave of severe storms swept across the Southeast United States, bringing down the region's powerful storms and deadly tornadoes. A resident of the city of Edmond in Oklahoma Paul Smith on Easter morning went outside to photograph lightning in the distance, and suddenly found the sprites from the thunderstorm in Arkansas.
"In our area the storm has passed, the sprites were at a distance of about 300 km," said Smith.
Sprites — a kind of upward lightning. Like red fireworks they often appear over strong thunderstorms and can reach the boundary of space.
Recent thunderstorms in the region, probably produced a large number of sprites. Upward lightning is best observed from afar. Smith had a perfect time in the perfect place to see them.

Also captured my first sprites of the year this morning. This one is a 2.40 am shot over the canola looking into Arkansas. My first Easter sprites ever.
Moon was bright , which made it tough, but at least it highlighted the flowers
