The astronaut on Board the International space station captured on camera river white river (eng. White River "White river") in the U.S. state of South Dakota, where its milky water fall in the blue-green lake Francis Case (eng. Lake Francis Case).
The name of the river is due to its color caused by the white sediment that enters it upstream. This precipitate is formed as a result of erosion and weathering of rocks and soils, especially of limestone and volcanic ash in the Badlands of South Dakota (Engl. Badlands).
Lake Francis Case — an artificial reservoir on the Missouri river, which fills the entire width of its valley with low steep cliffs on both banks. To have an idea of the scale of the image, it should be noted that the length of the road bridge over the reservoir in the town of Chamberlain is 1.6 km away. This city is a local commercial centre for the many farms located in the vicinity of red lake (top left).
