Initial data
The girl just took pictures of the candles during the tour. Only then, browsing through the pictures, she noticed a strange reflection of the flames. Looking closer she saw the face. As explained by the correspondent of the site "Notepad Volgograd" in the Museum-reserve "Old Sarepta", a photo taken in the basement of a stone house on the square, built in 1769.

Hypotheses
Re-reflections in lens lenses from a strong light source
The lens consists of a set of lenses (in some lenses - of mirrors), designed for mutual compensation of aberrations and assembled into a single system.
From the contour light (bright light sources behind the subject or next to it), caught in the frame or located outside the frame, parasitic reflections from the internal elements of the lens are formed, called glare (or in slang "hares").
Investigation
What the whole image is considered a face? it is not clear, but if it is purple spot with two points, it's internal reflections in the objective lens.
The image on the picture is strongly blurred, but if we draw the line of reflection for bright points in a lavender blur, it becomes clear that these reflections give two closely spaced candles in the center of the frame. Similar reflections can be seen in other areas of the image.
