Su visión fue confirmada posteriormente por otra tripulación de un vuelo que viajaba detrás de su avión, el Iberia 6010, un DC10 que viajaba de Montreal a Madrid por la misma ruta, y que pasaba por el mismo lugar unos 10 minutos después.
