About this photo differently saying that it was made in 1907 or 1909, and was first published as
photograph a UFO in 1967 by an Italian weekly.
Turns out it's cropped and retouched version of the previously published photos of noctilucent clouds Stamera Karl (1874-1957), Norwegian Explorer of the Northern lights and Professor of mathematics.
He initiated the project to measure height of Northern lights, as well as exploring the different types of clouds.
Project (1908-1912) consisted of separate stations for triangulation purposes, and one of them was in Drøbak. There were several hundred photos during this time and later he published a photographic Atlas of polar auroras.

This photo is variously said to be from 1907 or 1909, and was first published as a “UFO” photo in 1967 by an Italian weekly magazine. It turns out to be a cropped and retouched version of a previously published photograph of noctilucent clouds by Carl Störmer (1874-1957), a Norwegian researcher into the aurora borealis and professor of mathematics. He initiated a project to
measure the height of the aurora borealis as well as various types of clouds.
