Two F-102 was raised up to track the object on their radar. The pilots stated that the speed of overtaking indicated that the target was nearly stationary. The estimated wind speed at the height of 40,000 to 47,000 feet was 240/90.
The radar is located on 641-squadron AC&W air station Melville (Labrador). Radars were FPS-20, FPS-6B, radar and Onboard fire control MG10.
