In August 2007 soldiers in Basra (Iraq), made a very strange picture. In this picture he found of a mysterious ghostly silhouette in the background. At the time of shooting he didn't notice anything. Whether it was the fallen spirit of one of his friends who lost their lives?
The witness told his story on the website The Black Vault . He explains:
"This image was acquired on 8 August 2007 at the Central operating base (EAI), which, I believe, was at the airport of Basra, located South-West from Basra, over the river. I served in operation Telic 10, the second Royal tank regiment, attached to combat team the Irish guards.
I have just returned after a three-month stay at the Basra Palace, where the 3 friends were killed within a few weeks. [This picture] was taken the day of my return, in the Smoking area of EAI.
When I returned home in November, I downloaded all the photos on Facebook. Then I noticed the silhouette behind my friend, and increased the scale to determine who it is, so I can mark it. It was then that I noticed that it was like the spirit of a dead person and that it was not people. I changed the brightness of the pictures, and I was shocked!
With the guards in our camp no one could get in. "

En août 2007, un soldat stationné à Bassorah en Irak a pris une très étrange photo. Sur cette image, il a découvert une mystérieuse silhouette fantomatique en arrière-plan. Au moment des faits, il n’a rien remarqué.
S’agissait-il de l'esprit déchu de l'un de ses amis qui a perdu la vie ?
Le témoin a raconté son histoire au site Internet The Black Vault. Il explique :
« Cette image a été prise le 8 août 2007 dans la COB (Central Operating Base) qui se trouvait, je crois, à l’aéroport de Bassorah, situé au sud-ouest de Bassorah même, au-dessus du fleuve. Je servais au sein de l'opération Telic 10, au 2e Royal Tank Regiment, attaché au groupement tactique de la garde irlandaise.
Je venais de rentrer au COB après un séjour de 3 mois au palais de Bassora où 3 amis avaient été tués à quelques semaines d'intervalle. [Cette photo] a été prise le jour de mon retour, dans la zone fumeurs des COB. Quand je suis rentré chez moi en novembre, j'ai téléchargé toutes les photos que j'avais prises sur Facebook et j’ai commencé à avertir les gens. J'ai alors remarqué une silhouette derrière mon ami et j'ai zoomé davantage afin de déterminer qui c'était afin de pouvoir la tagger. C'est alors que j'ai remarqué que cela ressemblait à l’esprit d’un mort et que ce n'était pas du tout une personne. J'ai changé la luminosité de la photo et j'ai eu le choc de ma vie !
Tout d'abord, la situation à l'époque était si dangereuse que toute personne portant autre chose que l'uniforme délivré aurait immédiatement été remarquée et interpellé ! Avec la sécurité dans notre camp, personne n'aurait pu entrer. Si cette personne avait été vue en personne par mes amis et moi-même, il aurait reçu plusieurs balles de 9 mm à la tête, mais à l'époque, rien n'a été vu. »

This image was taken on 8th August 2007 in the COB (Central Operating Base) which I believe used to be Basra Airport, it’s located south west of Basra itself, over the river. I was serving in Operation Telic 10, 2nd Royal Tank Regiment, attached to the Irish Guard Battle Group.
I had just returned to the COB from a 3 month stay in Basra Palace where 3 friends had been killed within weeks of each other. This was taken the day I got back, in the COBs smoking area. When I returned home in November, I uploaded all the the photos I had taken to Facebook and started tagging people, I noticed a figure behind my friend and zoomed in closer in order to work out who it was so I could tag them. It was then I noticed it resembled death and wasn’t a person at all. I changed the brightness of the photo and got the shock of my life!
Firstly the situation at the time was so hostile that anyone wearing anything other than the issued uniform was immediatly noticed and challenged! With the security in our camp noone could have got in. If the figure was seen in person by myself and friends, it would of got several 9mm rounds to the head, however at the time, nothing was seen.
