6:40 p.m. CDT. A man saw three whitish oval objects approach Eglin at high speed in a V-formation. They stopped abruptly, hovered over the base at the radar station, then accelerated out over the Gulf of Mexico. The departure course appeared to follow the path of a radio navigation beam.
