Bedel witness was driving on state highway 135, on a two-lane paved road to the North of Freetown. He later reported to state police that a bright glowing white light caught in his field of vision. Apparently, he hovered over the road for a few seconds, then slowly changed course.

Francis Bedel, Jr., (23) of Portland, Indiana, was driving on State Highway 135, a two-lane blacktop road, north of Freetown, he later reported to State Police, when a brilliant glowing white light darted into his field of vision.
