Initial data
Mr. and Mrs. Phil Patton of Freetown, reported to state police that he observed a brightly lit ship in the shape of a disk about 30 feet (9.1 m) in diameter, which came down near their car.
Mr. Patton said the state kurashima Conrad that the object moved along the highway right in front of their car and at a distance of about a hundred feet (30 m) from it.
They calculated that it was about 100 feet (30 m) above the road, and they described it as round in shape and the size of a small house.
Patton told police that they heard a sound from the object, but that his outstanding characteristic was the extraordinary brilliance of the lights, mainly red but with flashing yellow and white along the side or bottom of the object. Half a minute later he broke out and disappeared.
According to the state police, which conducted the investigation, the description given by Patton, was identical to the description given by Francis Bedlam, a young man who wrecked his car when he looked such a sight, about a mile from the place of observation Patton.
