A British sailor named John Fairfax was crossing the Atlantic alone when he reportedly noticed two bright lights on the horizon.

They parted and flew higher into the sky. As he watched, fascinated, he claims to have entered a still, trance-like state.

"It was more than just seeing them," he said afterwards. "It was this power. It was like I was being told ," do you want to come with us?» And I fought it and answered: "No, no, no!» It was like telepathy, like being hypnotized."

After the objects flew away, Fairfax realized for the first time that the cigarette he was holding had burned his fingers.
