Initial data
On the night of July 17, 1969, at 10:30 p.m., Mr. X and miss Y (names not released on request) were parked in a Parking lot next to a flood protection dam in the Eastern city of Vermont.
A bright light, described as "brighter than a few flashlights," was seen through the right side of the windshield, apparently about 300 yards away from the car, and a dead tree was silhouetted against the background, located at the end of the field. The light seemed triangular in shape.
Mr. X got the impression that it was a bright light from a metal surface with a sort of railing at the top. According to him, "railtrxg" seemed to consist of narrow sections of bright light with dark sections in between.
It was estimated that it was approximately 20 by 20 feet (6x6 m). Suddenly, without the occupants of the car seeing the object move, it appeared in front of their car, making it visible in the extreme upper part of the windshield.
X got scared, started the car and drove about a hundred feet (30.4 m) towards the road leading out of this place. But miss Y wanted to stop again and "see what it was."
Mr. X stopped the car, but couldn't see the object.
A sensation that he could not describe came over him, and he felt as if he were being dragged out of a car. He said it was not a shock or anything like it that he had ever felt before. However, it started from his head and spread throughout his body. He lost consciousness for a moment, and when he came to, he felt as if he had been lifted from the seat.
His first reaction was to throw his body forward, holding the steering wheel with both hands just below the steering wheel. He said that almost instantly the feeling left him and he and miss Y left the area and returned to their homes.
Miss Y's statement says that she was conscious all the time and did not experience any unusual sensations. She noticed that Mr. x "flinched" or flinched and fell forward, his arms wrapped around the steering column. However, she did not notice any rise in Mr. x's body.
After X arrived home, he called the police, who referred him to the Vermont state police, who in turn referred him to Mr. Walter P. Aikn, the ApRO field investigator in new Hampshire, to whom we are very grateful for the investigation and the prepared report.
