Melissa French captured the eerie sight yesterday (August 30) at around 20: 45 above her home on Cumberland road, Sidley.
She said:
"I was looking out the window at the moon with my grandson, and that's when I noticed it."
I didn't know what to do with it, to be honest, because it looked weird. Its shape reminded me of a UFO, so I took a picture of it and posted it on Facebook.

This UFO in the clouds was formed when a cloaked UFO came down and settled among the cloud ceiling. The UFOs great bulk pushes the clouds aside leaving a huge disk hole. This UFO looks to be 1/2km across.
Such evidence was gathered from the 90 page MUFON investigative report of the Ohio Airport incident, which had hundreds of eyewitnesses and as the UFO shot up through the clouds, it left a gapping hole that lasted 15 minutes.

Investigation
The most common hypothesis claims that holes in clouds are caused by falling ice crystals. Ice crystals can form in higher clouds or in the exhaust fumes of a passing plane.
If the air has a suitable temperature and humidity, the falling crystals will absorb water from the air and grow. In order for this to happen, the water must be so cold that it only needs a suitable surface to freeze. The loss of moisture in the air increases the rate of evaporation of water droplets in the cloud, and they disperse, forming a hole. The heavier ice crystals continue to fall and form sparse, patchy, cloud-like precipitation that is visible inside and under the hole. Water and ice in these precipitation evaporates before reaching the ground.
