Initial data
Richard Williams, his wife and son were driving towards Willard when they saw a low-flying object "like a bat" approaching their car.
"In the middle of each wing, it seemed, there was a rocket or jet engine, and on each wing and on the tail were red and white lights."
At first they thought it was a plane crash. It was 25-30 feet (7.5-9.1 m) in diameter, approached the car at a distance of 100 feet (30.4 m) and then took off towards Willard in the East.
In front of the object was a transparent "cabin" through which you could see the movements of "some creature" outlined by a flashing light behind it.
Numerous sightings were reported from Tiro, Sandusky, and other parts of Huron County around the same time.
