The witness was having a late tea when he looked out of the window at a nearby beach and saw three men chatting. They seemed to be "shrouded in a gray fog."
The bright red light of a spherical object shone through the branches of macracarpa and pine trees.
"A silver streak appeared on the water and seemed to light the way back so that people could get on the red ball."
Then the streak disappeared and the red object moved away, slowly at first, seeming to bounce in the air at a low altitude. Then it gained altitude, approaching the nearest airfield, and soared very high until it was out of sight.

They seemed to be “shrouded in a gray mist.” Through the branches of a macracarpa and pine trees shone a bright red light from a spherical object. A “silver strip appeared on the water and appeared to light the way back for the men to get on the red ball.” Then the strip disappeared and the red object moved off, slowly at first, seeming to bounce along in the air at low altitude. It then gathered altitude as it approached a nearby aerodrome, soaring very high until it went out of sight.
