Initial data
Two boys were sleeping in the backyard.
At about 7 a.m., their dog woke them up whining and then jumped on the bed. The dog looked up, and then it yelped, ran to its booth on the porch, and went inside.
The boys looked up to see what was bothering her, and saw a large object shaped like a cigar.
Looking West as the sun rose behind them, the boys saw a huge cigar-shaped ship that they estimated was 400 feet (120 m) long and 100 feet (30 m) in diameter. It was made of shiny metal and looked like an old airship with five fins, but without a basket.
It made a quiet but very steady sound (no change) that could be compared to the sound of distant jet planes.
The object was low (no more than 1,000 ft - 300 m) and was gliding very slowly over the nearby pasture. After looking at the object, the witness ran to Wake his parents when his brother called him.
The object began to move, then accelerated at "incredible speed", moved West and simply disappeared from view. The sound didn't change during acceleration.
In 2002, a witness reported this to NUFORC, noting that it was the only UFO he had ever seen.
The duration of the session was estimated at 10 minutes.

Summary: Two boys had slept in their backyard. At about 7 AM, their dog woke them by whining and then jumping onto their bed. The dog was looking up, and then she yelped and ran for her dog box on the front porch and went inside. The boys looked up to see what had disturbed her and saw a large cigar-shaped object. Looking west, with the sun rising behind them, the boys saw a huge cigar shaped craft that they estimated to be 400 feet long and 100 feet in diameter. It was shiny metal and looked like an old dirigible with five tail fins but no basket. It made a sound that was low but very steady (no variations) and was compared to the sound of a distant jet aircraft. The object was low (no more than 1000 feet) and was gliding very slowly over the pasture next door. After watching the object, the witness ran to wake his parents when his brother called him back. The object was starting to move, then accelerated at “an incredible rate,” moving west, and just winked out of sight. Upon acceleration, the sound did not change. In 2002, the witness reported this to NUFORC, commenting that this was the only UFO he had ever seen. Duration of the sighting was estimated as 10 minutes.
