Members of a rock band practicing in a barn went outside and saw an unusual figure hovering low over the maintenance building and chimney of the Carolina Power & Light nuclear power plant half a mile to their northeast.

The egg-shaped object, seen mainly by its lights in the clear twilight sky, had two huge bright yellowish-white rays of light. After hovering motionless for 2-5 minutes, all the lights went out except the blue one. The UFO flew away and disappeared in "three blinks of an eye".

About five minutes later, a second observation occurred. It hovered to the right of the nuclear power plant and directed a beam of light at it, hovering for another 2-5 minutes. The second object flew to the Northwest.

No one at the station reported anything unusual to the security chief.
