The cows and horses became alert, then ran as a small fire passed.
These events took place in a city that has a reputation for anomalous events. Witnesses, a woman (43 years old, with an MS in music and worked for the state government) and a man (38 years old, with an MS in engineering and working for a phone company), were invited by another couple who had previously had observations on this farm.
At 23:30 on a clear night, the witnesses were in the field. The animals reacted as described above. The sphere that followed the animals was estimated to be less than a foot in diameter (slightly smaller than a volleyball). It seemed solid and dull silver, reflecting the moonlight.
It was flying at treetop level and was less than 100 feet (30 m) away from witnesses.
The only sound reported was the notes of a flute.
