Initial data
On a remote farm, a civil engineer and his wife came across a two-foot (0.6 m) diameter aluminum disk after traveling just 40 feet (12 m).
Early in the morning, 56-year-old R. E. Schenck and his wife were driving South on highway 58. At about 13: 30, they saw a small disk in the shape of two saucers, turned over each other.
The object hovered just a few feet from the road about 40 feet (12 m) away, and sunlight reflected off its surface. Surprised by what he saw, the former Navy pilot turned and drove back.
Then he and his wife saw the object at an altitude of about 2000-4000 feet (600-1200 m). It quickly rose through the sky and disappeared in the distance, heading towards Minneapolis.
The weather was clear, visibility unlimited. It was a clear, Sunny day.
