An eyewitness from the city of Leiden reports:
My daughter looked out at night around 2 am and saw this (see Photos and videos) blue light. Then she woke me up and I also saw a light from the bedroom window.
According to my daughter, she had already seen it moving from South to North. When I looked, it first stopped, then moved North, and eventually disappeared. We are very curious if anyone knows what it was!

LEIDEN, ZH — Mijn dochter keek 's nachts rond 2 uur naar buiten en zag dit (zie foto en video) blauwe licht. Ze heeft mij toen wakker gemaakt en ook ik zag het licht vanuit mijn slaapkamerraam. Volgens mijn dochter had ze het al van zuid naar noord zien bewegen. Toen ik keek stond het in eerste instantie stil en daarna bewoog het naar het noorden en verdween uiteindelijk. Wij zijn heel benieuwd of iemand weet wat het was!

Lasers, searchlights, car headlights and other light sources of sufficient power can form a column of light in a dusty or foggy atmosphere, various patterns on low clouds, fog or haze. Also, the rays can highlight parts of the cloud, objects or birds, giving them bizarre shapes.
Searchlights can shine with one beam, several. They can be stationary, move, and also form spinning carousels on the clouds, which can change shape and color.
It often seems that the light source is located at the point where the beam hits the cloud, and not vice versa.

News: The cause of the mysterious purple light
In the Netherlands, witnesses from many cities talked about purple or blue glow that moves across the night sky.
