I was not the one who witnessed this event, but it is documented in Arabic in this article by the famous Egyptian writer Mr. Mohamed Salmawi and was published online and offline in Al-Ahram (the official newspaper in Egypt) on January 31, 2000.
I would like to help try to document this famous one about the event by translating the article into English and contacting the famous writer Mr. Salmawi via email to get more comments about his meeting and about the 4 others who have contacted him to report it; as there are no UFOs in Egypt yet.
The article states the following:
"I was contacted by Omar to inform me calmly and accurately that last Tuesday he saw a UFO over Cairo, which emitted a very bright white light, unlike any known electric light.
- Omar is a good friend of my children, since they went to school together, 4 years ago he graduated from the American University in Cairo, now he works a lot in the media and TV company in Cairo, Egypt-the objects were like Neon lights floating in the sky, or like a huge sausage shape with rounded edges.
Omar said this isn't the first time he's seen these flying objects.
He goes on to say that 8 years ago, he was sleeping on his bed one summer night and saw outside his balcony a huge ball of light with a trail of intermittent lights. It lasted for a few seconds, then everything was illuminated by bright daylight, and then it disappeared ...
I asked him if anyone else saw what he saw last week, and he immediately said that his mom and the driver were there too and saw it. They were all in the car on the Munib Bridge going from Cairo to Giza, and they saw these bright objects above the pyramids of Giza, so they stopped the car and went down to get a better look, and kept looking until they disappeared.
At that moment, I myself discovered that I also saw the same lights later that night and in the same pattern that Omar described !!

"I also saw the same phenomenon later that night, on 25.01.2000, I was returning on an Alitalia flight from Algeria via Italy to Cairo Airport. We were still far above Cairo, with its glittering lights. I suddenly saw this bright light, very noticeable among the dimmer city lights. Then he was gone. It looked like a big light bulb.
At first I thought it was coming from the plane's lights, but when it happened again, I realized it was unnaturally bright. And it was moving along with the plane, not motionless, as I first thought. It was seen to be a rectangular shape flying directly above the ground, illuminating the ground as it hovered above the ground with its very bright pure white (not yellowish like the rest of the other artificial lights of Cairo).
It happened 4 or 5 times from 11: 30 to 11: 45, then we landed at Cairo Airport, and I forgot about it until I heard Omar's story."
[the author also describes another case] where another man was abducted in a UFO while he was sleeping in a vacant lot in southern Egypt. when he saw the UFO landing and the creatures came out and dragged him inside to the operating table, where he was exposed to some rays, later after this incident he developed strange abilities such as eating, swallowing broken glass and inserting a nail into parts of his body and taking it out from the other side without a trace of blood.
Omar also began to feel these strange powers, for example, sometimes if he just put his hand on one of his friends, that person could fall to the ground with extreme pain! Recently, he has begun to notice that when he holds a glass bottle of coke in his hand, the liquid turns into frozen ice in the middle of the bottle, and remains liquid above and below the area where the Lobster was holding it. Omar also goes on to say that when he saw the fireball years ago, his brother was sleeping in the next bed and didn't see the ball, but when the fireball crossed in front of the bedroom window, the sleeping brother hit the air up with his fist while sleeping. And a few seconds after the light disappeared, his hand returned to his side, he didn't wake up.
Omar recalls that during this incident, there was a ringing or squeaking sound from a tin trash can in the same bedroom. The sound was similar to the effect of hitting the jar with another metal object."

Omar also continues that when he saw the fire ball years back, his brother was sleeping in the next bed and didn’t see the ball, but when the fire ball crossed in front of the bedroom window the sleeping brother punched the air upwards with his fist while still sleeping. And in after the light disappeared in few seconds his arm went back to his side without waking up. Omar remembers that during this incident there was a ringing or beeping sound coming from the tin trash bin in the same bedroom. The sound was similar to the effect resulting of hitting the tin with another metal piece.”
