Initial data
Standing looking at the Northern Lights with CME on August 1/10. Observing Venus, Saturn, Mars, a triangle to the east, when I looked directly overhead and saw 5 small lights (slightly brighter than the stars) in the shape of a rectangle moving to the east. I thought:
"What the hell is this plane?"
When they suddenly broke formation, they walked around each other for a moment, as if trying to take a position, and formed a triangle. They curved again to form a circle, back into a triangle, a straight line from north to south, back into a triangle ... all the time, traveling to the east.
Approximate 20 seconds from the moment I first saw them... they have gone out of sight. There is no sound at all. The best estimate of the height... perhaps the height of the ISS or less. Duration of observation: flyby about 20 seconds.

Summary: Standing looking at Northern lights from CME on Aug 1/10. Observing Venus, Saturn, Mars triangle formation to the east when I looked directly overhead and saw 5 small lights (slightly more luminous than the stars) in rectangle formation moving to the east. I thought…”What the hell kind of plane is that?”…..when they suddenly broke formation, moved around one another for a quick second, like they were jockeying for position, and formed a triangle. They jockeyed again to form a circle, back to a triangle, a straight line North to South, back to a triangle…..all while travelling East. Approx. 20 sec from when I first saw them…they had moved out of eye view. No sound at all. Best guesstimate of altitude….possibly ISS altitude or less. Duration:Flyby approx 20 sec.
