"Ghost Rocket" dives into the lake next to a couple in a boat-Boy Scouts report the discovery of a bomb
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, August 13. (AP) - The Aftonbladet newspaper reported today that two "ghost rockets" were spotted in Sweden yesterday, and that one of them almost led to human casualties.
The newspaper reported that a couple sailing on a boat on a lake in Central Sweden was almost hit by a diving bomb, which exploded into many parts and disappeared under the water. The second observation was near Gothenburg, where a group of Boy Scouts saw a flying rocket turn 35 degrees, and then return to its original course.
The first explosion of a "ghost rocket" over Denmark was also reported in Copenhagen. Brian Jensen, a night watchman in Struer, West Jutland, said he saw a rocket explode from the northeast, exploding with a roar and lighting up the sky with a blinding flash.
Despite the stories of recent witnesses who unanimously described the burning objects as "rockets", the Swedish military authorities said today that they have not received tangible evidence that the frequent celestial phenomena observed over Sweden are the result of foreign experiments with air missiles.
"We haven't found anything," a military spokesman said.
Aftonbladet in an editorial criticized the military authorities for their inability to explain the nature of the incidents. "It should be possible to declare whether they are meteors or not, and if they are rockets, then they should be caught," the newspaper said.
If these were missiles and of Russian origin, as was assumed, the document says, then there are two possible explanations for their appearance over Sweden:
(1) " Sweden is systematically listed on the artillery map of Russia."
(2) "Sweden is being used as an object of demonstration aimed not at us, but at the wider world."

WASHINGTON, August 13. (AP) - Deputy Secretary of State Dean Acheson said today that he personally was very interested in reports of missiles flying over Sweden, but the Swedes did not seek advice from the United States about this.

2 SWEDES ESCAPE A 'GHOST ROCKET'
Missile Dives Into Lake Near Couple in Boat - Boy Scouts Report Sighting Bomb
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 13 (AP) - The newspaper Aftonbladet said today that two "ghost rockets" were observed in Sweden yesterday, and that one of them almost caused casualties.
A couple boating on a lake in Central Sweden were nearly hit by a diving bomb which burst into many parts and disappeared beneath the water, the paper said. The second observance was near Goeteborg, where a group of Boy Scouts saw a flying missile turn 35 degrees and then return to its original course.
The first "ghost rocket" explosion over Denmark also was reported in Copenhagen. Briand Jensen, a night watchman in Struer, West Jutland, said he saw a speeding rocket, approaching from the northeast, explode with a roar and illuminate the sky with a blinding flash.
Despite the accounts of recent witnesses who were unanimous in describing the flaming objects as "rockets," Swedish military authorities said today they had received no tangible proof that the frequent celestial phenomena observed over Sweden resulted from foreign experiments with aerial missiles.
"We have not found a thing," a military spokesman said.
Aftonbladet editorially criticized military authorities for their inability to explain the nature of the occurrences. "It ought to be possible to state whether they are meteors or not, and if they are rockets one should be caught," the newspaper declared.
If the occurrences are rockets and are of Russian origin, as has been suggested, the paper said, there were two possible explanations for their appearance over Sweden:
(1) "Sweden is systematically being dotted in on a Russian artillery map."
(2) "Sweden is being used as an object of demonstration, directed not to us but to the big world."

Acheson "Much Interested"
WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 (AP) - Under-Secretary of State Dean Acheson said today he personally was very much interested in reports of rockets flying over Sweden but that the Swedes had not sought any American advice on the subject.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
