Initial data
A resident of Dowling, V.H., told me that at about 18:10 his wife was looking through the kitchen window to the north and saw an object in the shape of a silver disc with the reflection of the sun from its surface. It looked just above the middle of the sky, moving from west to east. Then he disappeared behind a cloud and disappeared. She kept looking, hoping to see it again, but she never saw it.
Then, around 18:30, her husband noticed something in the same part of the sky, but even further away. He described it as a round object of a very dull color, moving again from west to east. The size was about the same as an old nickel coin (less than a dime) at arm's length. He, too, disappeared behind the clouds.
He waited and watched it, but never saw it again. The weather was clear, the sun was not shining yet, and the clouds were thin. He could clearly see it with the naked eye.
"It was neither an airplane, nor a helicopter, nor a bird, nor a weather balloon," he said. But he's not sure what it was.
Original news
Date: Thursday, May 20, 1999.
Location: Dowling, Ontario.
Dowling resident VH reported to me that at around 6:10 p.m., his wife was looking through the kitchen window to the north and saw a disk-shaped object, silver in colour, with the sun reflecting off its surface. It looked to be a little over halfway up in the sky, moving from west to east. It then went behind a cloud and disappeared. She kept looking, hoping to see it again but never did. Then, at around 6:30 p.m., her husband noticed something in the same part of the sky but further away. He described it as a round object, very dull in colour, again moving from west to east. The size looked to be about that of an old 5-cent piece (smaller than a dime) at arm's length. It also disappeared behind the clouds. He waited and watched for it, but never saw it again. The weather was clear, the sun was still out and the clouds were thin. He could clearly see it with the naked eye. 'It was no plane, no helicopter, no bird and no weather balloon,' he said. But he's not sure what it was.
