Initial data
B. SMAGIN also shared his observations with us. He keeps a diary where he records all the cases that attracted attention. Here is the recording he made on October 23 , 1974:
"An interesting phenomenon in a clear sky.
We were driving by car. Me, my wife and my son. In the evening, from Lake Balty, about 18.30 - 18.45. Suddenly the wife says: "Look, guys, there's a halo in the sky." We looked - indeed, there is a halo with a luminous center in the sky, moreover, clean. At first they thought it was from the moon. But we look - the moon is shining brightly to the side.
You can describe it like this:
1. An incomplete foggy circle with a luminous center. The edges of the circle are pronounced.
2. Then the center disappeared. The circle became full 1 - a ring was formed. The moon was on the left.
3. The circle began to grow until it disappeared. The impression of a smoky ring released from a cigarette. Only all this is in a clear starry sky. After 5-10 minutes, this ring disappeared, expanded and passed.
The next morning I called the observatory, and they told me that it was an optical phenomenon, wasn't it?"
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
