Initial data
An eyewitness from The Hague noticed two points of light in the sky that move according to a pattern. He's writing:
At first it looked like a rising star or satellite, then it disappeared for a while (possibly a cloud), and then it was seen much higher and disappeared again.
Then, from the same point, they saw the same satellite-like object doing the same thing again.
This went on 2 times or so, but then a second light point followed the same loop/pattern. It lasted for a few minutes, and then they both disappeared.
(Taking pictures on the phone, we didn't see anything, and in the photo you can see only two glowing dots of also present (fixed) stars.
Original news
Twee lichtpunten bewegen in patroon
Hypotheses
Satellite
Ordinary satellites, which often look like single, not very bright luminous dots moving smoothly in the night sky, are quite often mistaken for UFOs. After the Starlink satellites (near-Earth satellite systems developed by SpaceX, in order to create a cheap and high-performance satellite Internet communication channel and technical transmitters for receiving and transmitting signals from earth and orbit) were launched, it became possible to observe groups of satellites (up to 60 pieces) flying one after another.
Events
Rocket launches (from space.skyrocket.de)
- Site: Baikonur (Tyuratam, NIIP-5, GIK-5), Tyuratam (USSR / Russia) Vehicle: Soyuz-2-1a Payload: Soyuz-MS 22
Investigation
the description looks like a group of satellites Starlink, falling into the "glare" of illumination. According to the website findstarlink.com:
(past) 9:22 pm, 21 Sep 2022
Starlink-58 (G4-20), DIM (2.1) for 5 mins
Look from WEST to EAST (details)
Elevation (from horizon): start: 10°, max: 83°, end: 61°
Which corresponds to the time indicated by the eyewitness.
