On October 7, 1998, at 15:45, the residents of Payuano, a small village in Valle de Elchi (Chile), were subjected to an extraordinary ordeal that keeps 2,500 residents in suspense. The flying object, which has a metallic color and is about 15 meters across, remained motionless over the hill of Las Mollacas, from which the entire city was visible.
The object began to rise and abruptly made a sharp turn that split it in two in front of awe-stricken witnesses. One part of the object fell to the top of the hill, and the other behind it.
