Initial data
The following statement was provided by /u/Inside-Platform-6370 :
I found this video on another platform called "Somewhere over Canada".
This is reminiscent of what my friend described seeing over Vancouver, British Columbia (Maple Ridge area) many years ago (2012). Her first-hand account: "I was leaving the restaurant, and there was a glowing "solar" sphere right above the restaurant. Other people coming out of the restaurant saw the sphere just floating there. She stayed there for a while, and then silently, in the blink of an eye, it accelerated and disappeared." After seeing this video, my friend declares that this is exactly what was seen that night. Any information is highly appreciated.
Original news
The following submission statement was provided by /u/Inside-Platform-6370:
Found this video on another platform with just a title " Somewhere over Canada". It resembles what a friend of mine described seeing over Vancouver BC (Maple Ridge area) many years ago (2012). Her first hand account: "I was coming out of a restaurant, and there was a glowing "sun-like" orb right above the restaurant. Other people leaving the restaurant witnessesed the orb just floating there. It stayed there for a while and then without making any noise, in the blink of an eye, it accelerated up high and disappeared." After seeing this video, my friend states that it is exactly what was seen that night. Any info much appreciated.
Hypotheses
Light sources on clouds
Lasers, searchlights, car headlights and other light sources of sufficient power can form a column of light in a dusty or foggy atmosphere, various patterns on low clouds, fog or haze. Also, the rays can highlight parts of the cloud, objects or birds, giving them bizarre shapes.
Searchlights can shine with one beam, several. They can be stationary, move, and also form spinning carousels on the clouds, which can change shape and color.
It often seems that the light source is located at the point where the beam hits the cloud, and not vice versa.
