Description:
The observation lasted about 10 seconds. The sky was mostly clear with high clouds in the west. The moon was to the north of the observer.
The witness was on deck when he noticed a large ball of white light in which there seemed to be dark areas. He was flying rapidly from south to north high above the trees and, as it was seen, flew in front of a cloud. He was lost to sight behind the treetops.
The observer noticed that he was trembling while watching this, as the sight was so unusual, and there was no sound at all.

Description:
The sighting lasted approx. 10 seconds. The sky was mostly clear with high cloud to the west. The moon was to the north of the observer.
The witness was out on the decking when he observed a large ball of white light which seemed to have some dark areas. It was traveling rapidly south to north high above trees, and was seen to pass in front of a cloud. It was lost from view beyond treetops.
The observer commented that he shivered as he watched it, as the sight was so unusual, and there was no sound at all.
