Initial data
Date: Saturday, December 26, 2009
Time: 00:15
Location: Hamilton, North Island
Features/Characteristics: configuration of bright orange light in low and horizontal motion
Description:
Clear sky. The duration of observation is about 15 minutes.
The witness was driving on the northern outskirts of Hamilton near Gordonton on his way home from Auckland when he noticed a bright orange glowing light in the sky that seemed to maintain position and altitude. At first he thought it was the plane's landing light, until his driving perspective changed, but the object remained in the same position and continued to glow orange.
He stopped and got out of the car to get a better look at the object. He was able to clearly see a very slow moving ball of orange light that was moving at a speed of about 40-50 km/h at an altitude of about 200 feet, moving silently over the nearby labyrinths of Graham Road. From his position, the light was now only about 500 meters away from the observer, heading north-southwest from his position.
There were several lights on or around this light, some white, some reddish and some orange, but of a strange structure and shape. It was obvious that it was not a plane. The object moved away to the southwest, eventually disappeared from view.
