On February 2, 1985, around 1-30, I woke up to a strange sound in the air.
I live in Riga, on the 4th floor of a house that stands on the right bank of the Daugava River. In front of the windows is the island of the Hare from the new construction of the TV center of Riga. Further beyond the island is the left bank of the Daugava River.
I looked through the window and saw that the whole panorama in front of me, i.e. a part of the city about 2 km in radius is illuminated with a delicate yellow-pink color. The lighting resembled a full moon, but it was stronger and created shadows. The northwest side of the sky seemed brighter to me. The sky itself was covered with clouds, the cloud was low and gray. There were sharp but bright flashes of light behind the cloud, like stars. There was a slight noise in the air all the time, resembling the hum of a distant train. All this was very beautiful, but at the same time it caused a slight alarm.
Around 3-30 I got tired and fell asleep. I didn't notice anything special this morning.

For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
